Business Summary of the Solution:

Agilent Technologies is the world’s premier measurement company, delivering advanced tools for scientists, researchers, businesses and government agencies. Agilent’s sales success depends upon efficient communication with distribution partners located in over thirty countries. The challenge was to create a hosted solution that could be securely accessed by partners, localized to the partners language preferences and populated with the most timely content on sales opportunities.

Technical Summary:

The solution included two web applications: An administrator application for configuring custom sales lead layouts for distribution partners, localization and user management. The second application is a portal for secure access to detailed reporting of lead generation and downloading of leads. The administrator application was used internally by Agilent personnel. The lead portal was used by Agilent sales and the world-wide distribution partners.

Both web applications were designed and developed largely with open source technologies with the data tier being an Oracle database. The administrator application is a truly rich Internet interface developed in Flex. Security is implemented using Acegi for authentication and authorization. Leads are generated as pdf files. PDF templates are created within the administrator application and written as reusable metadata. Email templates are created using the Velocity templating engine.
