Fifteen years ago, three men joined forces and founded Zia Consulting. While at Seurat, Mike Mahon, Pat Myers, and Jeff Barry were working on a project for Agilent Technologies where their job was to create a quoting engine in many locales and for many countries. The team pushed out a pilot in about six weeks, although it should should have taken months to deliver. Agilent asked the team if they would be interested in taking over the contract as Seurat was filing Chapter 11. They didn’t have anything to lose, and took the opportunity to bootstrap Zia. Within six months, they decided they could make the company real. Once the company got traction, the team started to contact all of the people they most respected in the industry to come work at Zia.

Over the last 15 years, the company has grown substantially in employees and revenue, but has always maintained focus on being the best in the industry, being family-oriented, and making employees feel valued. We are comprised of fun-loving ECM craftsmen(women) who are devoted to our community, families, and friends. We strive to be the best while creating a strong work-life balance.

Our Name and Logo

Being from New Mexico, Pat was familiar with the Zia Pueblo tribe and their way of looking at life. He suggested the name Zia to embody the values of the tribe culture within the company the founders were looking to create.

The Zia Sun Symbol originated with the Zia Pueblo tribe and reflects a philosophy of the basic harmony of the universe. The figure is composed of a circle with four straight lines—the sacred number of Zia. Our company logo is modeled after this symbol.

Four is embodied in the earth’s four directions; the year’s four seasons; the day’s sunrise, noon, evening, and night; life’s four divisions—childhood, youth, adulthood, and old age. Everything is bound together in a circle of life and love—without beginning or end. Adults have four sacred obligations, to develop a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit, and a devotion to the welfare of his people.
